THE BEST FLOWY LONG DRESSES FOR SUMMER

One of my favorite things about spring and summer is being able to wear a pretty flowy dress! It happens to be a huge bonus that almost all flowy dresses also work great with the bump. As the temperatures heat up, the convenience of being able to throw on a dress and sandals and look completely put together is life-giving! Not to mention, it protects your skin from harmful rays. I’m so excited to round up all my favorite long flowy summer dresses that are awesome and comfortable to wear during summer.

Throughout this post, you’ll see me in multiple styles of flowy dresses. These are all non-maternity dresses that I have sized up in to accommodate the bump. To my surprise, there are a few flowy dresses that are made to be loose that I did not have to size up in! While they are not maternity dresses, they do work great with the bump and I would highly recommend them if you are expecting. However, if you are not expecting, these are all dresses I would normally wear, even if I was not pregnant.

I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite long flowy dresses for you below! I’ll be updating this post throughout the summer with new finds, current looks and more. Be sure to pin or bookmark this post and come back to it later as a resource for your best dresses summer, pun intended!

I wore this dress on my recent trip to Savannah, Ga. and it was perfect for walking around and exploring! I love that it didn’t wrinkle in my suitcase and made for an easy, put together day time look. I added my favorite Old Navy denim jacket in the evening when it was a little cool. You could also pair this with white sneakers if you’re going to be doing a lot of walking!

I picked this dress up from Abercrombie. They always have a great selection of long flowy dresses every summer and they are always less than $100. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite options for you below that I think you would love. They are constantly releasing new arrivals so I will be updating this as they add new options as well!

This dress is even more pretty in person! I love the lightweight material for summer and how you don’t have to worry about it being see-through. If you have a vacation on the books for this upcoming summer, this would be so pretty for beach pictures. I can just imagine you on the beach and your sweet kids next to you in their tiny dresses and chino shorts with their big smiles. I could also see myself wearing this to a backyard BBQ for memorial day or the fourth of July this summer.

It would also make a great travel look if you want to be both cute and comfortable! I would pair it with comfortable sandals like these Tory Burch Millers or a great pair of white sneakers. I have a full review on both Miller sandal and white sneakers if you are on the hunt for either of those! Add an oversized tote bag and a hat to round out your perfect travel day look!

If you are a bride, you could wear this for a bachelorette trip, to one of your showers, of even getting ready to day of your wedding. The functional buttons make it super easy so that you won’t mess up your hair and makeup when changing into your dress on the big day!

This dress happens to be part of the mommy and me collection at Target. If you have a mini you, be sure to pick up the matching baby and toddler version of this! I was immediately drawn to the fun color for summer and the variation in floral patterns. The tiers hit in just to right places, making it super flattering as well!

This is one of those dresses that you could easily pair with white sneakers on vacation when you are out exploring. But you could also throw it over a swimsuit and wear it as a cover-up. I’m all about a versatile flowy maxi dress.

If you are on the hunt for a more casual flowy dress to be able to wear throughout the summer, one of my favorite places to shop is Target. They always have a ton of great options, usually less than $40. I recently did a full Target dress try on here. I’ve also rounded up a few of my favorites for you below!

feminine off the shoulder ruffle maxi dress

This might be one of my favorite Amazon finds of the season. The color is such a pretty blue! This would be such a great option for maternity pictures, an upcoming shower, or even a spring or summer wedding. I’ve paired it with sandals here but if you want to dress it up, I’d recommend these heels! If you aren’t one for strapless bras you could pull the shoulder up and wear a normal bra. If it’s a little chilly, add a denim jacket over the top.

When it comes to off the shoulder dresses, I can be a little picky. I hate it when you feel like you are being restricted, or worse, when you can’t lift your arms up. However, this Amazon dress has the perfect amount of stretch in it so that you don’t feel trapped in your own dress. Definitely a must-have for an off the shoulder dress. I also love that the material isn’t too thin. This way if you end up wearing this dress for maternity photos or even summer family photos you won’t be able to see your legs through it!

  sleeveless neutral maxi dress

The picture on the website does not do this neutral maxi dress justice. It’s so much prettier in person! I love that it has pockets, is super stretchy and ultra comfortable. You will want to wear a criss cross back bra or go with a strapless option because of the cut of the dress. I love that this dress has a ton of stretch to it. It’s perfect if you are expecting. If you are not expecting, the belt will give you a great defined waistline! You could even trade it out for a fun woven belt and one with a rattan buckle to give it a summertime vibe.

If I wear traveling to the beach this summer, this one would be a must pack for me! I can tell that the fabric will keep me cool while in the hot sun and will protect my legs from getting sunburn. That is another huge bonus about a long flowy dress. Aside from the fact that they naturally give you a more elevated look, it protects you from the sun’s harmful UV rays as well. It’s funny how as a kid, you want to dip yourself in baby oil and tan all day. Now, as an adult, I try to avoid the sun at all costs. I’m all about a faux self-tanner! Much better for my skin, long-term!

I wore this dress the other day when I was out running errands and getting ready for baby. I couldn’t believe how many compliments I received. The floral detail is so beautiful and the movement is just stunning! You could easily add a skinny belt if you don’t have a bump and dress it up with heels. Here I styled it with my go-to comfortable sandals, my Tory Burch Miller Cloud sandals. Read my full review on them here! This would also be perfect for a summer wedding, an upcoming shower and definitely a summer vacation.

I picked this dress up from Nordstrom, by the brand Free People. This dress also comes in a few other colors options if you’re not loving the pink floral option. As I was browsing through Nordstrom’s website I came across so many other great flowy dresses, I had to show you all. I’ve rounded up my favorites for you below!

why i love a flowy dress

It’s no secret that I’ve been living in flowy dresses. But even if I wasn’t super pregnant, you would likely see me rocking flowy dresses like there’s no tomorrow. I am definitely a dress lover at heart because I love how just one piece is an entire outfit. All you have to do is throw on a comfortable pair of shoes and you instantly look put together, while remaining comfortable. It’s basically the easiest, pulled-together look you can create in less than three minutes flat. But seriously, if I could only wear one style of dress for the rest of my life, it would be a flowy dress!

how to style a flowy dress

One of the reasons that I love a flowy dress is because they are so easy to style. Depending on whether you are going for a dressed up look or a more casual vibe will dictate how you style your flowy dress. Right now, white sneakers are super on trend. If you are wanting a simple, casual look I would grab a flowy dress that is a midi style and pair it with your favorite white sneakers. You can add a sun hat or baseball hat for an even more relaxed feel.

If you are going out for a date night or meeting up with your besties for drinks, then I would recommend adding a heel or a great summer wedge. A great wedge or mule block heel will give you that elevated look without being too stuffy. However, if you are wearing a flowy dress to work, I would go with a pointed toe heel. This naturally gives off a professional vibe.

Now that we have your footwear covered, let’s go over what accessories and jewelry to pair with your dress. In the summer, I find that I wear my hair up a lot more to stay cool. I love to put a pretty hair scarf or scrunchie in my hair to give it a more playful look. It’s much better than just my simple black ponytail holder if you ask me! Another go-to of mine is a great straw hat! Combine these with a pair of oversized sunglasses and you’ll instantly look fabulous! To really complete the look, I recommend adding a few pieces of Kendra Scott jewelry. They always have so many great finds that will easily mix into your everyday rotation.

This post, all about the best flowy dresses for summer, has been curated as a resource just for you! My hope is that you will be able to bookmark this post and come back to it year after year. As the season goes on and I continue to find amazing flowy dresses, I’ll be sure to update this post. I’ll also be adding in more styled looks so that you can see the dresses styled on!
